2014 – The 9th

It has been quite a colourful week in Enrico’s Hitlist and I am still amazed that it has already been nine weeks into 2014! Last weeks hottest newcomer of the year – so far – Slovenian sensation Natalija Verboten manages to defend her top position for a second week in a row with ‘Ma Kje Si Ti’! If I’m not mistaken, it translates into ‘Where Are You’. The biggest gain however goes to Spain this week with ‘Dancing In The Rain’ sung by Ruth Lorenzo who climbs up six positions to number 2!

The highest new entry this week goes to a Eurovision representative. Romania who was hugely successful two years ago in the charts with ‘Zaleilah’ by Mandinga manages to sneak into the Top 20 onto a respectable 7th place in it’s debut week. ‘Miracle’ by Paula Seling & Ovi kind of reminds me of a mixture between The Lumineers and One Republic.

Estonia has also chosen their song which will represent this baltic country in this years song contest to be staged in Copenhagen/Denmark. I do think Tanja with ‘Amazing’ is a worthy well written pop song which should do very well if she can deliver a great live performance!

And one quick blast from the past. It is kind of fitting since it is a song relating to football and we have the World Cup in Brazil coming up this year! Shaggy first appeared with ‘Feel The Rush’ today 5 years ago and although the song remained only in the Top 20 for six weeks it still managed to score a respectable 145 points and stayed at the number 1 spot for 2 weeks! It will be interesting what samba rhythm we’ll get to hear in a few months time! Maybe another Macarena fever breaking out? Who knows!
