First

As explained last week maintaining and continuing continuous updates is challenging especially like in the week just gone, because it is the first week of 2019 (and be rest assured not the last one) where I have been travelling abroad!

Most of you who read this and know me also know that I travel to the US quite a bit so it was with no surprise that I went for a long weekend to America, more specifically the city of Jazz. That’s right, the city which got so badly battered in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Of course I am talking about New Orleans (NOLA as the locals call it) on the Gulf Coast in the state of Louisiana. However this weeks update is brought to you from the US Capital Washington D.C. where I am right now.

I guess a few might have expected a few new entries more jazz related but I didn’t hear that much jazz music on this fun fuelled trip. Actually contrary to this the highest entry goes to an artist called Selena Quintanilla with her song ‘El Chico Del Apartamento 512’.

I stumbled across this tune whilst in an Uber back from a cheeky swim session at the University of New Orleans and immediately loved it.

This week is also a first in the sense that Miley Cirus is the 1st artist of 2019 to maintain the Top Spot for a third week running and already the question is: who will be able to stop her?

Perhaps Rebeka Dremelj with ‘Pod Mojo Kožo’ who entered at Number 5. I guess only the next week’s and months will tell.

Second

At the moment I am actually quite impressed with myself, that I’m posting this week, which shows my determination to get the ball rolling again even though it’s only the second week in a row but it is at the end the little steps/things/actions right? So without further fluffing around here are this weeks charts!

Fittingly enough for my post title this week, two new entries probably have caught your attention. First one up on sixth position is Ruth Lorenzo, who a few might re-call from taking part at the Eurovision Song Contest or being a UK X-Factor contestant! Renuncio is a perfect catchy Spanish pop tune and rightfully deserves to be in the Top 10 already!

The first time I heard the artist’ name Just Kiddin I was like are they for real and then the song ‘Fall For You’ came up on my Shazam and it instantly was a ‘hit’ so it is no wonder that it strongly defends it’s seventh position in week number 2!

Another tune defending it’s position from the previous week has grown on me during my recent gym workouts and having listened to it quite a few times now! I am talking about ‘Bury It’ from Churches & Hayley Williams on rank number 9 this week. Quite a cool video too to finish off for today!

Reset

I have made a decision after the past few weeks me thinking about ehCharts (and not posting again!) and decided -> drumroll please

The main reason for this step is that I have been lacking so much with continuity this year and it has gone so far that by now it doesn’t make sense to just start at the end of October again, since this year chart wise will be a write off year!

This means over the next couple of weeks/months I still be showing you regular updates of Enrico’s Hitlist, but it will not account for much in terms of figures for future statistics as it will not have an impact whatsoever and if it does it will be very minimal.

Thanks to X-Factor ehCharts has a new number one (though no one really knows besides myself who has been occupying the top spot over recent weeks) in form of Little Mix’ latest single ‘Shout Out To My Ex’. It was performed on last weeks live result show and has not just climbed to the top in my charts! It has also gained the top spot in the UK Top 40, which is just more evidence that sometimes (!) I’m up to current trends contrary to popular belief.

Another song I want to highlight is currently ranked on eight position but has been a big Top 3 hit over the summer months, especially since June when I discovered this song on my travel around the world. Produce 101’s smash hit single ‘Pick Me’ is a perfect example of K-Pop which has now infiltrated ehCharts!

‘Love On Me’ by Gallants & Hook N Sling is a very new entry and by the looks of it the fourth place will not be the end for this uplifting dance song which will probably help me with my gym work outs over the weeks to come! And with this uplifting note I shall say good night until next time! Thanks for ‘tuning’ in! Continue reading “Reset”

Can’t Stop

I kind of have to start this weeks article with yet another apology, because it has been such a long time since my last post (again I know!)

BUT a lot has happened since last year to say the least. I won’t bore you with those details today, because a) I need to keep some stories for the future to come and b) it is already pretty late and I do need my ‘beauty’ sleep #joking!

A few things though! This week marks another new beginning of ehCharts – 3rd time lucky  I hope, as I haven’t been consistent enough over the past few months to keep it up I spontaneously decided to re-start again, as much as it hurts!

This weeks headline also coincidently refers to the ‘first’ Number 1 ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ by Justin Timberlake who performed this fine tune at the Eurovision Song Contest final this year in Sweden’s capital Stockholm. Even though I only kept my top 20 sporadically over the past couple of months this song would have been number one quite a few times so it definitely deserves the top position this week. However Shakira’s ‘Try Everything’ from Zootopia is closely followed especially after having discovered an amazing remix to this song. And I actually think this is a close candidate for number one next week, but who knows! We all know anything is possible these days, especially when its comes to my music taste so stay tuned for more to come, because I am definitely back for good!!!

Movements

The second week of ehCharts 2015 had his first big movements and already a change at the top spot! Scotty McCreery’s ‘Feelin’ It’ did have an impact (desire for summer holiday perhaps?!) and has claimed the number one position. Furthermore you will notice that last weeks Number 1 has to settle at number seven this week.

For those Eurovision Fans out there (and I know you are out there!) you might be pleased to see that this years winner of the Dutch selection Trijntje Oosterhuis makes her debut with ‘Walk Along’ at rank 2 this week and successfully continues on last years single called ‘Calm After The Storm’ by The Common Linnets!

Further success comes from another Eurovision participant representing Spain last year with ‘Dancing In The Rain’. Y’all know that I am talking about Ruth Lorenzo who released her first album ‘Planeta De Azul’ and storms to number 3 with ‘Gigantes’, which has been also a success in the Spanish Singles Charts.

Lastly I would like to point out that all kinds of music have the chance to enter ehCharts, as you will see with the BBC News Countdown being one example or Jennifer Lopez’ Hip Hop single ‘I Luh Ya Papi’ another. Check out the videos below and enjoy and thanks for checking in!

New Beginnings

This is it! I am back to NEW BEGINNINGS.

We are already four days into 2015 and it is time to re-write Enrico’s Hitlist, or to those who recently followed this website/blog finally start from ‘scratch’ and this time I mean it.

The previous attempts were to see if I still have the passion or power to keep up my charts like I had previously done for over more then 14(!) years continuously. The last couple of weeks and well months have been hard on me but reflecting on this at the same time the only thing keeping me going was music, no matter how sad or happy it was. Every morning leaving the flat it is music which wakes me up and lightens up my heart. Every time on the train were I try to squeeze in another nap it is music which soothes my seoul. Every time before a swim race – though it has been a while – it is music which gets me into the right zone to focus and motivate me. I could list many more things and I am confident you can relate to this as much as I do, but to cut things short and not bore you I want to point out that I love music and will always treasure it and that’s regardless of what genre, singer, group or lyrics are currently in my Top 20. At the end, it is going to be what you make out of it.

For all of us I wish that some of the songs will create special memories like they do for me and I am sure from time to time I shall share those with you.

So here we are at a fresh start. Welcome to 2015. Welcome to ehCharts!

The first official Number 1 on ehCharts! Union J’s ‘Tonight (We Live Forever)’

And already a summer song for 2015! Scotty McCreerys’ ‘Feelin’ It’ has to settle for the second spot!

And Yes! I have to show one more in form of a cheeky flashback to when it all began in 2001 with Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Absolutely Everybody’

ehCharts is back

I am sure – well I hope – that you have all been waiting for the first official top 20 of ehCharts.com!

Your patience over the last few months will definitely be rewarded, though I must warn, that today’s list might look a bit boring, as every song is listed as new! This obviously will change over time, but since this is a brand new start I (and you!) do have to take it from here onwards.

It is still a shame that I had to say goodbye to Enrico’s Hitlist which had its presence over the past 14 years (!) but I will continue with some flashbacks, as my goal of posting every day over the past two weeks miserably failed due to (again) some unforeseen personal circumstances. C’est La Vie!

So here is to a better, brighter future with music which hopefully you enjoy as much as I do!

Welcome to ehCharts!

And the first official Number 1 goes to American newcomer group G.R.L. with an upbeat song called ‘Ugly Heart’. This tune has been a favourite of mine over the past few weeks and I am still amazed it plays so well. I would like to mention though that one of the singers sadly passed away this week.

This first week is also a demonstration for my international taste for music, and Slovenia predominantly strikes this week with four entries! A top 3 spot was earned with ‘Viski’ by Lidija Bačić. It kind of just shows as well the music theme of the year, which is still country-pop, albeit be this time from the Balkan and not America for once.

On Number 4 is a song splitting peoples opinion (well, according to my facebook). Meghan Trainor with ‘All About The Bass’ literally has 50% Likers and 50% Haters. I obviously count for the Likers as the high debut position for this young American song-writer, musician shows! International chart positions do back me up on this occasion as well!

I would almost say another Slovenian Pop ‘institution’ is Rebeka Dremelj who I well remember from Enrico’s Hitlist with her fabulous songs such as ‘Vrag Naj Vzame’, ‘Petek’ and Brez Sramu! However this time she scores a ‘new’ (y’all know how I am sometimes behind with music) hit called ‘Pod Mojo Kožo’ which sneaks in at a respectable Number 5. Very much easy pop/rock. The stuff we all like!

Oh and here is a song from the past, which reached the Number 1 spot in Enrico’s Hitlist back in 2002. Sophie Ellis-Bextor stormed to Number 1 with ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, which eventually became the most played song that year in Europe, according to Wikipedia
