Philosophical

And another week has gone by super quick … not to sound sentimental or philosophical but to me it feels that time goes faster the older you get. Maybe I’m just tired! But I still owe you last weeks Top20. Not much movement in the Top positions but you’ll see quite a few ‘new’ entries, the highest being Alabama’s ‘Can’t Keep A Good Man Down’ at number 4. Sweden’s Melodifestivalen continues to be a strong provider of great tunes like ‘Habibi’ by Dolly Style sneaking in at Number 10. Quite a few countries have decided their Eurovision songs for this year and I’m almost certain that this will be reflected in next weeks charts. However this means that Kenneth can cling onto number 1 for a second week in a row with his Astro Bot soundtrack song!

Literally

It’s been a tough few days for me as I was in Germany for a little swimming training camp so today I’ll keep it short and simple and literally just show you my top 20 without a big story, which I hope is ok. I’m sure it is as it will give you more time to soak in the latest trends in ehCharts.

First

As explained last week maintaining and continuing continuous updates is challenging especially like in the week just gone, because it is the first week of 2019 (and be rest assured not the last one) where I have been travelling abroad!

Most of you who read this and know me also know that I travel to the US quite a bit so it was with no surprise that I went for a long weekend to America, more specifically the city of Jazz. That’s right, the city which got so badly battered in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Of course I am talking about New Orleans (NOLA as the locals call it) on the Gulf Coast in the state of Louisiana. However this weeks update is brought to you from the US Capital Washington D.C. where I am right now.

I guess a few might have expected a few new entries more jazz related but I didn’t hear that much jazz music on this fun fuelled trip. Actually contrary to this the highest entry goes to an artist called Selena Quintanilla with her song ‘El Chico Del Apartamento 512’.

I stumbled across this tune whilst in an Uber back from a cheeky swim session at the University of New Orleans and immediately loved it.

This week is also a first in the sense that Miley Cirus is the 1st artist of 2019 to maintain the Top Spot for a third week running and already the question is: who will be able to stop her?

Perhaps Rebeka Dremelj with ‘Pod Mojo Kožo’ who entered at Number 5. I guess only the next week’s and months will tell.

2019

I know it has been a long time since my last post! Almost a year in fact which is a bit embarrassing to admit. And like most of the people (I am no exception) starting the new year, there are some new year resolutions attached to mine as well. One of those is obviously getting back into the swing of things with my EHCHARTS and keeping the world of music interesting with own judgemental taste buds!

However as the first week of 2019 has just begun I am unable yet to provide you with the first Top 20 of the year (you have to be patient a few more days I’m afraid). Until then I thought you might be interested to see what songs have had an impact in the turbulent year just gone. I am sure some of those songs will probably re-appear in 2019 but who knows, because like with everything these days -> ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!! Stay Tuned and a Happy New Year to everyone watching this site! One note – these songs are not listed in oder of ranking and are just a random selection!

Besides

Besides the worst hangover I have experienced in a long time I think 2018 has gone off to a fairly good start.

I say fairly good because work has surprisingly been crazy busy which has never been the case like this being the first week of the year and only a four day one as well. Additionally some building issues at the usual training pool has also forced me to do some altercations to my well planned out training programme for the coming months!

Nonetheless I still managed to keep going with my charts last year despite being well absent for the past 7 months or so, which means my present to you today is going to be my Top 10 of 2017 before I proceed to the first Top 20 of 2018 next week!

Hawaii

Good evening or ‘Aloha’ as they say in Hawaii. I do realise that my last chart update has been about 4 weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t happen! Therefore today you’ll get a full all in one overview.

You will notice that on the top position nothing has changed and Sweden’s Wiktoria remains unbeatable for a fifth consecutive week! Quite a stunning feat I might add, which also adds to Sweden’s success in Enrico’s Hitlist so far (more about this in a future post). Unfortunately this young talented lady has not progressed to the Eurovision Song Contest this year, despite being enormously popular with the public! The ‘professional’ jury must have been deaf and blind not to give her higher ratings which ultimately cost her to lose out on Robin Bengtsson’s ‘I Can’t Go On’. Funny enough the Swedish charts seem to reflect my taste on this occasion as Wiktoria is still ranked higher than Robin!

Having re-watched the Swedish selection process called Melodifestivalen again, has also given Ace Wilder’s ‘Wild Child’ a boost as she climbed up to the third position and remains there as solid as a rock only to be beaten by a group which was in my charts about two years ago called Te Vaka. Their upbeat song ‘Logo Te Pate’ debuted two weeks ago thanks to Disney’s magnificent animated movie ‘Moana’. Having watched that movie and also being on a little vacation to America’s paradise has also pushed a few other Hawaiian inspired songs into the Top 20 such as ‘Pakalolo’!

As previously predicted you also notice a german speaking song called ‘Guten Morgen Sonnenschein’ a very upbeat version of Nana Mouskouris’ original which remains in the Top 5 for a 4th week running and by the looks of it it’s going to be in the charts for a while!

Admit

As predicted a week ago, this week sees Melodifestivalens participant Wiktoria storm to the top spot with her cheerful tune called ‘As I Lay Me Down’. She actually progressed to the Final round in Sweden which will take place on the 11th of March in Stockholm to chose their representative for this years Eurovision Song Contest. And not only I like it, Sweden does to, as Wiktoria entered the Swedish Top 20 this week as well! I must admit it has been a while since ESC songs were so predominant in the Top 20.

Not only did Wiktoria climbed to victory this week, but you can also see Italy’s Francesco Gabbani gain an astonishing 15 places to an impressive 3rd position with ‘Occidentalis Karma’ currently a big front runner to do well in Kiev!

We also have Norway’s country/folk group Rune Rudberg Band entering at a respectable 7th position with ‘Run Run Away’ being another potential candidate to represent their country in the Ukraine!

Next weeks chart update will be actually coming from Hawaii, as I embark on a little vacation to Oahu. Perhaps there will be some Polynesian inspired tunes? Who knows!

This song has big potential to enter next weeks charts, and brings me back to 2001 when a well known Nana Mouskouri stormed to success with the original ‘Guten Morgen Sonnenschein’! What a great remix though!
