Laziness

A lot has happened since my last entry 132 days ago. Yes my dear readers from all over the world it is that long ago!

To be honest I am not even sure why I haven’t posted my weekly top 20. I guess I could blame my own pure laziness which over the past couple of months has overtaken my life in all sorts of aspects such as swim training, consumption of alcohol, gym and obviously not in a good way.

The only part where I haven’t been lazy is actually work which finally got rewarded 1.5 weeks ago with me being recognised within the firm with an award for outstanding customer service! Oh and I have travelled a bit as well and explored new destinations such as Miami, Las Vegas, Philadelphia the states of Tennessee and Kentucky. There will be more inside info to come over the next couple of weeks, with special mention of Dollywood (another childhood dream come true) of course!

But a key event happened two weeks ago which kind of opened my eyes and has changed my perception/view on certain things in life! So I do think I’m back on track and getting back to my old self which FINALLY has resulted in getting my lazy ass in front of the computer and show you the latest chart movements and from now on hopefully with some continuity again!

Before I give you the run down of the latest Top 20 I shall reveal the current standing after 34 weeks so far in 2014.

No. 5

Little Mix has entered ehCharts on the 15th of June and ‘Black Magic’ went straight to the top spot where it remained for 5 consecutive weeks. It was one of those Sunday’s were the song was played on TV and it just got stuck in my mind. A catchy perfect pop song which should have been released earlier to be even more successful than it has been.

No. 4

Do you remember a couple of months ago when I thought that ‘House Party’ by Sam Hunt could potentially become song of the year? Well things change fast in the world of music and even on ehCharts.com as the current 4th position just shows. Let’s see if in the remainder of the year the country newcomer can change this somehow!

No. 3

Lithuania’s Eurovision Entry suddenly developed to one of the biggest surprise hits of the year! Not only is has it stayed 3 weeks at Number one, but it also has stayed in the Top 20 since the Grand Final back in May and is a hot contender for the song of 2015, because the top 3 currently are very close together point wise and Monika + Vaidas certainly know how to entertain. A shame they didn’t get more recognition on the actual final in Vienna!

No. 2

A group name with Dolly in it is kind of automatically bound for success! 7 Weeks Number 1 (the longest so far) which would have also been a great Eurovision Entry for Sweden this year (but failed narrowly by literally a couple of votes in their pre-selection to advance further) is granted to ‘Hello Hi’ by Dolly Style. It is fighting for the overall top spot which is still up for grabs and by the looks of it ‘cheesy’ pop music is currently on the rise again. Nonetheless a great catchy pop song!

No. 1

A song first ‘discovered’ by me way before it became popular in Europe is currently leading ehCharts 2015. It recently has dropped out of the Top 20 but it’s 31 weeks in the charts and two of them being number 1 is giving OMI and ‘Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) a well deserved lead and as the current Top 20 proves RE-ENTRIES are possible at anytime for any song and artist!

Pitch Perfect 2 has definitely had a big impact over the past two weeks culminating by climbing to this weeks Number 1 position with the incredible good feel song ‘Crazy Youngsters’ fighting off the Troublemakers (also featured in Pitch Perfect 2) with Lollipop which – a couple of years back – had been a huge success for pop sensation Mika.

Sweden is having a blast this year. Special mention goes to Samir & Victor (who also tried to represent their country at this years Eurovision Song Contest)! Their smash hit ‘Success’ remains steady in the charts and is just outside this years Top 10 after currently 9 weeks. A fun tune which will get everyone moving – hands down, not just because they’re good looking – well one of them. And on that note thanks for stopping by!
