Hawaii

Good evening or ‘Aloha’ as they say in Hawaii. I do realise that my last chart update has been about 4 weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t happen! Therefore today you’ll get a full all in one overview.

You will notice that on the top position nothing has changed and Sweden’s Wiktoria remains unbeatable for a fifth consecutive week! Quite a stunning feat I might add, which also adds to Sweden’s success in Enrico’s Hitlist so far (more about this in a future post). Unfortunately this young talented lady has not progressed to the Eurovision Song Contest this year, despite being enormously popular with the public! The ‘professional’ jury must have been deaf and blind not to give her higher ratings which ultimately cost her to lose out on Robin Bengtsson’s ‘I Can’t Go On’. Funny enough the Swedish charts seem to reflect my taste on this occasion as Wiktoria is still ranked higher than Robin!

Having re-watched the Swedish selection process called Melodifestivalen again, has also given Ace Wilder’s ‘Wild Child’ a boost as she climbed up to the third position and remains there as solid as a rock only to be beaten by a group which was in my charts about two years ago called Te Vaka. Their upbeat song ‘Logo Te Pate’ debuted two weeks ago thanks to Disney’s magnificent animated movie ‘Moana’. Having watched that movie and also being on a little vacation to America’s paradise has also pushed a few other Hawaiian inspired songs into the Top 20 such as ‘Pakalolo’!

As previously predicted you also notice a german speaking song called ‘Guten Morgen Sonnenschein’ a very upbeat version of Nana Mouskouris’ original which remains in the Top 5 for a 4th week running and by the looks of it it’s going to be in the charts for a while!

First

Sorry for being a day later than usual, but I literally just got back from my first trip abroad of 2017! I had good intentions yesterday when I was preparing to post ‘live’ from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, but I decided not to in the end (maybe I had too much wine!).

Anyway week Number 3 has passed and so has another week of Enrico’s Hitlist or better now known as ehcharts and we have a new number one! Saraha from Sweden who was denied to represent the country at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest pushed her way to the top spot with ‘Kizunguzungu’ leaving the highest new entry ‘Said No One Ever’ by Jana Kramer in her wake. Not sure how many of you remember my pre-robbery time but Saraha’s song does remind me a tiny bit of Norway’s entry from 2011 called ‘Haba Haba’.

Thanks to my recent long-haul flights to the US I was able to pick up a few new songs who featured in movies I was able to watch, such as ‘The Secret Life Of Pets’! Although I wasn’t travelling to New York (I went to St Louis/Missouri) the song somehow stuck with me mainly because of its catchiness.

Already

And the second week of 2017 already gone by! Isn’t it crazy how time just flies? I hope everyone made the most of it like me! Well I probably tried a bit too hard, as it ultimately resulted in me spending the day in bed today, being completely run down with this damn cold! Fingers crossed that I am on the mend and back in full action next week!

Nonetheless I did take time to give you this weeks charts! Hopefully you all have noticed that a few changes took place, most notably with Ed Sheeran being the highest entry with ‘Castle On The Hill’ climbing onto the 7th spot.

There’s also someone in the Top 20 this week who has climbed up to All Time Number 1 in the pre-disaster ehCharts time. For the new joiners I will shed a tiny bit of light on it for you. I’m talking of course about Dolly Parton’s ‘Baby’ I’m Burnin” who just surprised me this week (once again) and rightfully deserves her 15th place. I could elaborate more but as mentioned above I’m still not 100% and will save my energy for next week – promise!

Surely

‘Crazy Youngsters’ by the Pitch Perfect 2 cast manages to hold tight onto Number 1 for a second week in a row. The Troublemakers also keep their second position from last week to fight off an attempt from Sweden’s newcomer duo Samir & Viktor and their smash hit ‘Success’

Neil Diamond’s ‘Cherry, Cherry’ definitely deserves the award for most surprising entry in this weeks Top 20 with entering at number 6 making it the highest new entry, though it seems almost like it opened a floodgate for ‘new’ songs in the charts such as ‘Word Of Mouth’ by Mike & The Mechanics on number 7 or the the 90’s hit ‘Sweat (Ah La La Long)’ by Inner Circle at number 19.

It surely is a week with a variety of styles and ‘Ain’t Nobody’ by Felix Jaehn & Jasmine Thompson is just another example for the broad taste of mine, though reading the comments on the video there are quite a few pro’s and con’s which I didn’t expect, but I guess everybody can judge for themselves. I also wonder if ‘Jump’ by the Pointer sisters is featured on a few athletes iPod’s after their week at the IAAF athletic world championships in Beijing. Who knows!

Laziness

A lot has happened since my last entry 132 days ago. Yes my dear readers from all over the world it is that long ago!

To be honest I am not even sure why I haven’t posted my weekly top 20. I guess I could blame my own pure laziness which over the past couple of months has overtaken my life in all sorts of aspects such as swim training, consumption of alcohol, gym and obviously not in a good way.

The only part where I haven’t been lazy is actually work which finally got rewarded 1.5 weeks ago with me being recognised within the firm with an award for outstanding customer service! Oh and I have travelled a bit as well and explored new destinations such as Miami, Las Vegas, Philadelphia the states of Tennessee and Kentucky. There will be more inside info to come over the next couple of weeks, with special mention of Dollywood (another childhood dream come true) of course!

But a key event happened two weeks ago which kind of opened my eyes and has changed my perception/view on certain things in life! So I do think I’m back on track and getting back to my old self which FINALLY has resulted in getting my lazy ass in front of the computer and show you the latest chart movements and from now on hopefully with some continuity again!

Before I give you the run down of the latest Top 20 I shall reveal the current standing after 34 weeks so far in 2014.

No. 5

Little Mix has entered ehCharts on the 15th of June and ‘Black Magic’ went straight to the top spot where it remained for 5 consecutive weeks. It was one of those Sunday’s were the song was played on TV and it just got stuck in my mind. A catchy perfect pop song which should have been released earlier to be even more successful than it has been.

No. 4

Do you remember a couple of months ago when I thought that ‘House Party’ by Sam Hunt could potentially become song of the year? Well things change fast in the world of music and even on ehCharts.com as the current 4th position just shows. Let’s see if in the remainder of the year the country newcomer can change this somehow!

No. 3

Lithuania’s Eurovision Entry suddenly developed to one of the biggest surprise hits of the year! Not only is has it stayed 3 weeks at Number one, but it also has stayed in the Top 20 since the Grand Final back in May and is a hot contender for the song of 2015, because the top 3 currently are very close together point wise and Monika + Vaidas certainly know how to entertain. A shame they didn’t get more recognition on the actual final in Vienna!

No. 2

A group name with Dolly in it is kind of automatically bound for success! 7 Weeks Number 1 (the longest so far) which would have also been a great Eurovision Entry for Sweden this year (but failed narrowly by literally a couple of votes in their pre-selection to advance further) is granted to ‘Hello Hi’ by Dolly Style. It is fighting for the overall top spot which is still up for grabs and by the looks of it ‘cheesy’ pop music is currently on the rise again. Nonetheless a great catchy pop song!

No. 1

A song first ‘discovered’ by me way before it became popular in Europe is currently leading ehCharts 2015. It recently has dropped out of the Top 20 but it’s 31 weeks in the charts and two of them being number 1 is giving OMI and ‘Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) a well deserved lead and as the current Top 20 proves RE-ENTRIES are possible at anytime for any song and artist!

Pitch Perfect 2 has definitely had a big impact over the past two weeks culminating by climbing to this weeks Number 1 position with the incredible good feel song ‘Crazy Youngsters’ fighting off the Troublemakers (also featured in Pitch Perfect 2) with Lollipop which – a couple of years back – had been a huge success for pop sensation Mika.

Sweden is having a blast this year. Special mention goes to Samir & Victor (who also tried to represent their country at this years Eurovision Song Contest)! Their smash hit ‘Success’ remains steady in the charts and is just outside this years Top 10 after currently 9 weeks. A fun tune which will get everyone moving – hands down, not just because they’re good looking – well one of them. And on that note thanks for stopping by!

New Beginnings

This is it! I am back to NEW BEGINNINGS.

We are already four days into 2015 and it is time to re-write Enrico’s Hitlist, or to those who recently followed this website/blog finally start from ‘scratch’ and this time I mean it.

The previous attempts were to see if I still have the passion or power to keep up my charts like I had previously done for over more then 14(!) years continuously. The last couple of weeks and well months have been hard on me but reflecting on this at the same time the only thing keeping me going was music, no matter how sad or happy it was. Every morning leaving the flat it is music which wakes me up and lightens up my heart. Every time on the train were I try to squeeze in another nap it is music which soothes my seoul. Every time before a swim race – though it has been a while – it is music which gets me into the right zone to focus and motivate me. I could list many more things and I am confident you can relate to this as much as I do, but to cut things short and not bore you I want to point out that I love music and will always treasure it and that’s regardless of what genre, singer, group or lyrics are currently in my Top 20. At the end, it is going to be what you make out of it.

For all of us I wish that some of the songs will create special memories like they do for me and I am sure from time to time I shall share those with you.

So here we are at a fresh start. Welcome to 2015. Welcome to ehCharts!

The first official Number 1 on ehCharts! Union J’s ‘Tonight (We Live Forever)’

And already a summer song for 2015! Scotty McCreerys’ ‘Feelin’ It’ has to settle for the second spot!

And Yes! I have to show one more in form of a cheeky flashback to when it all began in 2001 with Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Absolutely Everybody’

Decision

Hello everybody and thanks for keep checking my website!

It has now almost been three months since I last posted an update on here. Back then I thought worse things couldn’t happen anymore, but how I was proven completely wrong during the months of June & July! I won’t go into any detail, as it is very private and would just spoil the mood again, which is not what I am aiming for plus totally not the purpose here!

Anyway, it just hit me recently, as I did have a lot of time to think about certain things such as my music charts and I have made a decision, which you will hopefully like + enjoy!

Enrico’s Hitlist as we currently know is going to start a new chapter (well kind of forced as you all know) come 1st of September 2014 and all previous records and listings shall be erased, though what I’ve got left I might keep for future reference.

After what happened in Dublin, I obviously tried to get as much music back as possible and lucky enough I did get some sort of lists/files off my iPhone and iPod (thank you Apple and myself for syncing at some point in the beginning of this year). This way I managed to miracously  recover some 4500 songs and also a complete list of all the previous Number 1’s !

Exciting news for you is that over the next two weeks until I release my first official new Top 20 I will try to do a flash back of the past 308(!) top chart sitters. It does sound crazy, as it is about 23 songs per day, which might be too overwhelming for you, so I will limit it down to probably 10 amazing tunes which rose to stardom in my charts.

Again, I would like to thank all the followers who were keep coming back looking for updates. And now enjoy the first Number 1’s of Enrico’s Hitlist’s very own special Flashback and welcome to ehCharts from the 1st of September!

Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Absolutely Everybody’ will always be special to me, as being the first official Number 1 in Enrico’s Hitlist.

A true 90’s classic, which followed and has also been part of the first official Top 20 (as far as I can remember) . I can also remember that it was one of the longest chart sitters with over 100 weeks spent in the Top 20

Well, what can I say! Dolly Parton was there from the beginning back in 2001 and 20 years after she received her Oscar nomination for this fabulous song, she also made it to the Number 1 spot in my charts! Well done Dolly!

And another 90’s tune was reaching the top spot in the early day’s and did you know that this song reached the top position in Australia as well and lasted surprisingly 4 weeks?!

One of Enya’s most successful songs in Enrico’s Hitlist and a song which I was able to feature on a local radio station which clearly had an impact on its success in the Top 20! A song originally released in 1988.

I clearly have a good memory when it comes to my charts, or I am just very passionate about them, BUT I do remember that this song came 2nd in the year end charts of 2001 and was the first one to last longer than just one week at the top position!  It was also another song featured during an announcement on a local radio station and I should totally try and find that recording!

It won’t be her only number one song in Enrico’s Hitlist over the years to come, but the first one is always a memorable one and it remains a classic. Amazing combination of classical elements and pop does make Annie Lennox a true legend!

Now that you know Paul Young’s ‘Love Of The Common People’ was the first song to last 2 weeks at Number 1, you will be pleased to know that this song was the first one to last 3 weeks. Refreshing German Pop.

This pop ballad would eventually become her biggest hit in Enrico’s Hitlist and let’s face it, no international charts these days can be without the amazing Celine Dion.

ehCharts was and always will be very international, as this phenomenal Japanese Opening Theme demonstrates. The incredible full version is about 4 min long but I couldn’t find it. Sorry, but I hope you get the feel why it became so popular

Oh and I remember this one VERY WELL. It entered Enrico’s Hitlist on the 9th of April 2001 and I seriously have no clue why this is stuck in my head). However it was bound to become the longest chart sitter over the next 13.5 years of Enrico’s Hitlist existance and the first one to top the year end charts with well over 1.000 points. It ended up being All Time Number 4 as of May 2014.

This song will go down in history as it topped the charts to interrupt Luv just the week after having gained the top spot with the infamous ‘You’re The Greatest Lover’. Luv quickly gained success again and claimed back the top spot for weeks to come, though this would become Alberts Hammonds greatest success in Enrico’s Hitlist.

Tonight shall conclude the way it started, with Vanessa Amorosi and her amazing performance at the Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. ‘Heroes Live Forever’ is a very insperatonal song for me and who knew that that year (I am still talking about 2001) I would crack the magic minute over 100m Freestyle and meet Michael Klim at the ARENA World Cup in Berlin.

Ohh and the songs – which I decided – that didn’t make the ‘cut’ tonight are. Thanks for ‘tuning’ in and see you tomorrow!
