Good evening to the official release of Enrico’s Hitlist! 12 weeks into 2013 already – can you believe it? And Easter is just around the corner as well!
ESDM can hold onto the top spot for a second week in a row with their Eurovision song for Spain ‘Contigo Hasta El Final’. Otherwise quite a few other new developments this week and I guess I should start with the highest New Entry on Number 2. I do find it extremely hard to resist a song which has been covered reasonably well. A lot of people quite possibly disagree when it comes to the Glee covers, but who are they? That won’t affect my taste of music, and it shouldn’t anyway, right?! The Glee Cast version of ‘Mamma Mia’ certainly had a marvellous impact on the ABBA video which I would like to share with you tonight. Just have a look at the comments on this YouTube link. It still amazes me, how unique the sound still is. It surely is a timeless tune, given it’s original release back in 1975! The fashion in this video still makes me giggle and I am confident that most of you who are watching the video will definitely be singing along!!
You probably have another of those ‘OMG’ moments right now, like you did last week having spotted the Re-Entry of the ‘Dallas Opening Theme’. And yes, the grand dame of country music is back in the charts! Dolly Parton enters on Number 10 with her calm song about a guy called ‘John Daniel’. Initially I kept singing along with another familiar name: Jack Daniels (like the Whiskey). Ah well even I am not flawless. And to be fair it is very easy to sing along not using the right name! Most of my friends do know that I am a huge fan of Dolly – I even went to see her live in concert two years ago at the NEC Arena in Birmingham – and there shall be a few (interesting!) facts coming up later on this year – so stay tuned!
Notable drop outs this week are ‘Marry Me’ by Finland’s ESC representative Krista Sigfrieds and longterm chartsitter (30 consecutive weeks!) ‘Brokenhearted’ by Karmin!
The biggest gain however this week goes to ‘Pompeii’ by London based band Bastille. 9 positions up in its second week after debuting on rank 12 seven days ago. A very interesting sound and what I think is a pretty cool video, which has been filmed in Los Angeles/California. As previously announced there will be an extra update tomorrow evening with the biggest Top 10 hits of 2013 so far after the first three months and I hope you are as excited as I am to see it! Until then I hope you have a lovely evening and a great start into the new week!
