ehCharts is back

I am sure – well I hope – that you have all been waiting for the first official top 20 of ehCharts.com!

Your patience over the last few months will definitely be rewarded, though I must warn, that today’s list might look a bit boring, as every song is listed as new! This obviously will change over time, but since this is a brand new start I (and you!) do have to take it from here onwards.

It is still a shame that I had to say goodbye to Enrico’s Hitlist which had its presence over the past 14 years (!) but I will continue with some flashbacks, as my goal of posting every day over the past two weeks miserably failed due to (again) some unforeseen personal circumstances. C’est La Vie!

So here is to a better, brighter future with music which hopefully you enjoy as much as I do!

Welcome to ehCharts!

And the first official Number 1 goes to American newcomer group G.R.L. with an upbeat song called ‘Ugly Heart’. This tune has been a favourite of mine over the past few weeks and I am still amazed it plays so well. I would like to mention though that one of the singers sadly passed away this week.

This first week is also a demonstration for my international taste for music, and Slovenia predominantly strikes this week with four entries! A top 3 spot was earned with ‘Viski’ by Lidija Bačić. It kind of just shows as well the music theme of the year, which is still country-pop, albeit be this time from the Balkan and not America for once.

On Number 4 is a song splitting peoples opinion (well, according to my facebook). Meghan Trainor with ‘All About The Bass’ literally has 50% Likers and 50% Haters. I obviously count for the Likers as the high debut position for this young American song-writer, musician shows! International chart positions do back me up on this occasion as well!

I would almost say another Slovenian Pop ‘institution’ is Rebeka Dremelj who I well remember from Enrico’s Hitlist with her fabulous songs such as ‘Vrag Naj Vzame’, ‘Petek’ and Brez Sramu! However this time she scores a ‘new’ (y’all know how I am sometimes behind with music) hit called ‘Pod Mojo Kožo’ which sneaks in at a respectable Number 5. Very much easy pop/rock. The stuff we all like!

Oh and here is a song from the past, which reached the Number 1 spot in Enrico’s Hitlist back in 2002. Sophie Ellis-Bextor stormed to Number 1 with ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, which eventually became the most played song that year in Europe, according to Wikipedia
