Eurovision

Four weeks already gone – again. And so many thinks have happened since I last released ehCharts! We had Easter, we had the Series Finals of The Big Bang Theory and Game Of Thrones and we had one of my favourite TV-Shows on the planet – the Eurovision Song Contest. Thank you Tel Aviv for putting on such an amazing show!

Like every year the impact can be felt in the Top 20 and not just in my charts, but across the board. And by that I mean not just Europe – I mean all over the planet! Over the past weeks I got to know more and more songs and have to say this years contest is one of the stronger ones in recent years which you may notice is heavily reflected especially in the past week! I recently said in a Facebook post ‘After Eurovision Is Before Eurovision’ and the new season has already begun. And whilst this years songs surely will be seen for a while in the charts over the coming weeks the hunt for 2020 is on and I think my involvement in it will be bigger than ever. Stay tuned.

Quite

I cannot believe I have been so lazy keeping you up to date with Enrico’s Hitlist, but it has been a few busy weeks (again I know) of travelling, swimming etc. It still doesn’t mean that I’m not keeping up with my charts but I just haven’t had the time to post them. I promise I will try to be better over the next coming weeks, especially with Eurovision being around the corner which had quite an impact in the charts including producing a number 1 hit. Enjoy

Philosophical

And another week has gone by super quick … not to sound sentimental or philosophical but to me it feels that time goes faster the older you get. Maybe I’m just tired! But I still owe you last weeks Top20. Not much movement in the Top positions but you’ll see quite a few ‘new’ entries, the highest being Alabama’s ‘Can’t Keep A Good Man Down’ at number 4. Sweden’s Melodifestivalen continues to be a strong provider of great tunes like ‘Habibi’ by Dolly Style sneaking in at Number 10. Quite a few countries have decided their Eurovision songs for this year and I’m almost certain that this will be reflected in next weeks charts. However this means that Kenneth can cling onto number 1 for a second week in a row with his Astro Bot soundtrack song!

Literally

It’s been a tough few days for me as I was in Germany for a little swimming training camp so today I’ll keep it short and simple and literally just show you my top 20 without a big story, which I hope is ok. I’m sure it is as it will give you more time to soak in the latest trends in ehCharts.

Infamous

I’m afraid I still haven’t got a new computer yet which means the posts look slightly different than usual as I am somewhat limited to what I can do using my iPad although I’m pretty chuffed with the result and my efforts. Yes I’m proud of this like I am of my charts!

The past week has seen a few new entries and most notably you’ll see the highest one being at number 2 by Kenneth M C Young with ‘12 Bar Bot’. This song has been in my ears ever since I started playing Astro Bot on PS4 which is an amazing game and finally the soundtrack is out!

Sweden has also started their selection process for this years Eurovision Song Contest which takes place in the israelian city of Jerusalem. Anna Bergendahls ‘Ashes To Ashes’ is definitely a song to watch out for and I’m sure it’ll grow on me over the weeks to come. I have to say that each year the song quality at the infamous Melodifestivalen is just fantastic and I can’t wait for the next semifinal. Oh and for now Doris Dragovic clings on to the Top Spot for a second week in a row.

First

As explained last week maintaining and continuing continuous updates is challenging especially like in the week just gone, because it is the first week of 2019 (and be rest assured not the last one) where I have been travelling abroad!

Most of you who read this and know me also know that I travel to the US quite a bit so it was with no surprise that I went for a long weekend to America, more specifically the city of Jazz. That’s right, the city which got so badly battered in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina. Of course I am talking about New Orleans (NOLA as the locals call it) on the Gulf Coast in the state of Louisiana. However this weeks update is brought to you from the US Capital Washington D.C. where I am right now.

I guess a few might have expected a few new entries more jazz related but I didn’t hear that much jazz music on this fun fuelled trip. Actually contrary to this the highest entry goes to an artist called Selena Quintanilla with her song ‘El Chico Del Apartamento 512’.

I stumbled across this tune whilst in an Uber back from a cheeky swim session at the University of New Orleans and immediately loved it.

This week is also a first in the sense that Miley Cirus is the 1st artist of 2019 to maintain the Top Spot for a third week running and already the question is: who will be able to stop her?

Perhaps Rebeka Dremelj with ‘Pod Mojo Kožo’ who entered at Number 5. I guess only the next week’s and months will tell.

Difficult

I think it is always easy to start something new but then it becomes increasingly difficult to actually continue with what you have set out for yourself and follow it through! Not to go into too much detail, but over a month ago I had the worst hangover and decided to re-fresh and re-set myself to go back to where I left things off. In that sense it wasn’t that much of a fresh start but you get the idea. I wanted to do a month without alcohol and given Christmas and New Year was just around the corner people were looking at me like I was a crazy person! Long story short a month and a bit later I still haven’t touched alcohol which is proof to myself that I am finally on the right path to something great, whatever that may be!

Difficult is also to maintain the Number 1 position in ehCharts – without a doubt one of the most heavily contested charts in the world. Miley Cyrus with ‘The Bitch Is Back’ managed to do that in her second week running and left Cam’s ‘Diane’ and Noemies ‘Ma Petite Familie’ trailing behind on rank 2 and 3 respectively.

The charts have not been influenced by Ru Paul’s Drag Race Allstars so much like last week, but a show reflecting on the year 1994 (can you believe that is 25 years ago?!) left me with a new entry just sneaking in at number 20 in the form of The Grid and the UK top 3 hit called ‘The Swing’. Catchy so don’t judge and enjoy this weeks Top 20!
