Five

I know it has been quite a while since I had the time to show you the latest from the world of ehCharts. However I have been a bit busy in terms of swimming and getting back into shape plus in all honesty updating the website from an iPad is not much fun!

On the plus side I am happy to announce that I managed to get hold of a new computer and can get back to ‘normal’. Saying that I have maintained the Top 20 in a regular fashion for the last five weeks and therefore can bring you guys up to date.

Most importantly to note is that since the last update there have been two No. 1’s and both are related to an incredible Melodifestivalen Final which took place in Sweden’s capital Stockholm! The rest you can see from the charts below as I don’t want to bore you with too many boring details. Enjoy

Admit

As predicted a week ago, this week sees Melodifestivalens participant Wiktoria storm to the top spot with her cheerful tune called ‘As I Lay Me Down’. She actually progressed to the Final round in Sweden which will take place on the 11th of March in Stockholm to chose their representative for this years Eurovision Song Contest. And not only I like it, Sweden does to, as Wiktoria entered the Swedish Top 20 this week as well! I must admit it has been a while since ESC songs were so predominant in the Top 20.

Not only did Wiktoria climbed to victory this week, but you can also see Italy’s Francesco Gabbani gain an astonishing 15 places to an impressive 3rd position with ‘Occidentalis Karma’ currently a big front runner to do well in Kiev!

We also have Norway’s country/folk group Rune Rudberg Band entering at a respectable 7th position with ‘Run Run Away’ being another potential candidate to represent their country in the Ukraine!

Next weeks chart update will be actually coming from Hawaii, as I embark on a little vacation to Oahu. Perhaps there will be some Polynesian inspired tunes? Who knows!

This song has big potential to enter next weeks charts, and brings me back to 2001 when a well known Nana Mouskouri stormed to success with the original ‘Guten Morgen Sonnenschein’! What a great remix though!

Amazed

I am actually quite amazed with myself about the continuation so far of this website, besides it’s flaws last year! I do have to say this, because usually once I start projects I never seem to be able to follow them through, though my very own take on Music has somehow enabled me to keep going and I raise a glass (a la Pink!) on my 100th update on ehcharts.com.

Giusy Ferreri – who I was told this week has been a former X-Factor contestant in Italy – surely will be happy to retain her top spot for a second week in a row with ‘Ma Il Cielo è Sempre Più Blu’ fighting off yet another Eurovision contestant! Lithuania will be represented in Vienna by Monika Lynké & Vaidas Baumila and their incredibly catchy song ‘This Time’. Not to put any criticism out there, but it does show similarities to Malta’s entry from 2014 called ‘Coming Home’ by Firelight, putting some country twist into it! Regardless I like it and the 2nd position is well deserved!

Almost connected to the Eurovision Contest is Slovenia’s hot new entry at number three this week. Almost because she only came second in the EMA 2010, which acts as Slovenia’s festival to select their entry for the ESC. Nonetheless not only does Nina Pušlar claim a bronze medal with ‘Kdo Misliš, Da Si’, she also sneaks in on the 7th position with ‘Poljub Na Klopci’.

As we know Glee is in it’s final season and though recently I praised the show with the way they cover songs, I do now think the impact they had with their music has weakened and no serious effort is being put into the songs anymore. It is therefore no big surprise that ‘All Out Of Love’ – despite being a fabulous song – only enters at a disappointing 19th position!
