Hawaii

Good evening or ‘Aloha’ as they say in Hawaii. I do realise that my last chart update has been about 4 weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t happen! Therefore today you’ll get a full all in one overview.

You will notice that on the top position nothing has changed and Sweden’s Wiktoria remains unbeatable for a fifth consecutive week! Quite a stunning feat I might add, which also adds to Sweden’s success in Enrico’s Hitlist so far (more about this in a future post). Unfortunately this young talented lady has not progressed to the Eurovision Song Contest this year, despite being enormously popular with the public! The ‘professional’ jury must have been deaf and blind not to give her higher ratings which ultimately cost her to lose out on Robin Bengtsson’s ‘I Can’t Go On’. Funny enough the Swedish charts seem to reflect my taste on this occasion as Wiktoria is still ranked higher than Robin!

Having re-watched the Swedish selection process called Melodifestivalen again, has also given Ace Wilder’s ‘Wild Child’ a boost as she climbed up to the third position and remains there as solid as a rock only to be beaten by a group which was in my charts about two years ago called Te Vaka. Their upbeat song ‘Logo Te Pate’ debuted two weeks ago thanks to Disney’s magnificent animated movie ‘Moana’. Having watched that movie and also being on a little vacation to America’s paradise has also pushed a few other Hawaiian inspired songs into the Top 20 such as ‘Pakalolo’!

As previously predicted you also notice a german speaking song called ‘Guten Morgen Sonnenschein’ a very upbeat version of Nana Mouskouris’ original which remains in the Top 5 for a 4th week running and by the looks of it it’s going to be in the charts for a while!

2014 – The 2nd

Today I’ve decided to let the charts speak by itself, as they are – if I am not mistaken – kind of self explanatory! Surely you can see recognise that Celine Dion’s ‘Thank You’ can be thankful to be still in the charts given it being the biggest free faller plummeting 9 ranks down outside the Top 10 to a sad number 14! I have included a few new entries further below in form of videos so you can listen to what has dominated Enrico’s Hitlist in the second week of 2014! Maybe I’m just lazy today … I still have to play the sympathy card as it’s only been a week ago when I was in hospital!!!

2014 – The 1st

Here we are again! I can’t believe how fast it has come around, and yes I know that I am a little bit delayed with the first weeks charts. I did however have a valid reason not to post anything this past Sunday, due to an unforced hospital visit which I would have preferred to avoid! So far I shall just mention it was unpleasant but I do think I am on the mend and let me assure you, it didn’t stop me from doing the first weeks Top 20 of 2014! Below a few snippets out of this week’s charts!

And we already starting the year with a brand new number 1. Mika – after his success with ‘Popular Song’ in 2013 – manages to dethrone UK X-Factor champ Sam Bailey with his ‘brand new’ single ‘Emily’. I am saying new, because the song was previously released I think in 2010, but for some reason I missed out on it. Nevertheless it sure deserves to be on the top spot to give this year a good start! By the way it is the 299th Number 1 to reach the Top Spot!!!

Some minor success last year was written on both Pitbull & Ke$ha’s forehead and they are starting 2014 with a fulminant debut on number 4 and their song called ‘Timber’ which is not just seeing a high chart position in Enrico’s Hitlist! It also does very well around the globe and looks like the first trendsetter of the year! A very entertaining video.

Although it is always a possibility, but no, the Eurythmics haven’t managed to re-enter Enrico’s Hitlist this week. I would like to do however a little look back on entries which entered around this time in previous years and ‘Love Is A Stranger’ became a massive hit for this group in the Top 20 twelve (!) years ago. That’s right! It entered the charts on the 30/12/2002! Out of 2041 listed songs it is ranked Number 155 having scored 238 points over it’s 16 weeks in the charts, two of whom were at the top position! Enjoy the video and this week’s Top 20!

The official Top 40 of 2013

The official Top 40 of Enrico’s Hitlist after completion of year 13 (!) are now in front of you

The list says it all and I have compiled the Top 10 videos in reverse order so you can all re-live the best songs of the year and perhaps re-vive some forgotten memories!

Despite being the Number 1 Song of 2013, it is unfortunately the lowest scored Top Spot for One Republic and ‘Feel Again’ as they merely accumulated 489 points to claim the crown. In a tight fight ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke – one of the summer hits this year – manages to overhaul Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It’ to lead by only two points with 429 to 427 respectively.

Hayden Panettiere is probably the unluckiest artist of 2013 as she misses out of the Top 10 by an incredible single point and with a total tally of three songs in the Top 40! But for the time being just enjoy the music! More to follow for sure!!!

Final Week 2013 … Week No. 52

We have made it through another year of Enrico’s Hitlist! I am saying we, because I probably would have given up completely after my little hiatus a few months ago without your amazing support & feedback  from all over the world.

As it turns out, it is another good week for UK’s X-Factor Winner Sam Bailey who – unlike in the UK charts – manages to retain her Number 1 spot for a second week in a row and ends 2013 on a high note. She also manages to remain at the 5th spot with her interpretation of Whitney Houston’s ‘How Will I Know’ which actually is now officially more successful then the original! Needless to say, that she is this week’s number one artist with ‘Power Of Love’ climbing up one position to the sixth rank! Well done Sam.

Christmas feeling wasn’t much in the air this year as it turns out and I blame the mild weather for the big plunge of Glee’s ‘Mary’s Little Boy Child’ which didn’t even stay in the Top 10 this week and plummets 9 ranks down to Number 11!

A big winner though has become Walt Disney’s movie ‘Tangled’ which has produced two new entries and more notably the highest one of this week at Number 3! ‘I See The Light’ made a fantastic debut being sung by Mandy Moore & Zachary Levi. It is Mandy Moore’s second song in Enrico’s Hitlist after her first appearance back in March 2003!!!

The second highest entry this week goes to a song also related to ‘Tangled’. Grace Potter features with ‘Something that I Want’ at the very end of the movie in case you’d like to know. A very uplifting uptempo pop song which definitely deservers the seventh spot.

As most of you know it is no secret that I follow the Eurovision Song Contest which is to be hosted in Denmark’s capital Copenhagen next year. The first countries are already in the process of finding their representative or already found them like the Ukraine and most recently Albania did. I came across the Maltese selection and ‘Coming Home’ by Firelight is now firmly stuck in my head. Watch and listen yourself to see what you make out of this potential entry for 2014 which enters at number 9 in this week’s Top 20!

I will be back tomorrow to reveal the official Top 40 of 2013 – so stay tuned !!!

Christmas Week No. 51

Despite the fact, that ‘How Will I Know’ and ‘Power Of Love’ lost a few ranks in this weeks charts, it is without a single doubt that this weeks winner clearly is Britain’s X-Factor sensation Sam Bailey, who rose to fame by taking the competition’s crown with her very own adaptation of Demi Lovato’s ‘Skyscraper’.

Needless to say it became not only Enrico’s Christmas Number 1, but also shot to the top spot in the Irish and UK charts!!! I would also like to point out that the rare occasion happened that the number 3 in Enrico’s Hitlist also matches the third spot in the British Top 40. Well done Leona Lewis!

And yes since it’s Christmas I’d also like to share the second highest entry in this weeks Top 20.  It is one of the best-selling singles of all time in the UK, however this time performed by the US TV-show cast of Glee! Yes, ‘Mary’s Little Boy Child’ which was an immense success by Boney M. has now captured my attention and narrowly denied Sam her claim to fame!

Week No. 50

I guess the biggest winner in this week’s charts is the freshly crowned UK X-Factor winner: Sam Bailey, despite not reaching the number one spot. Her final performance of ‘Power Of Love’ originally sung by Jennifer Rush pushed her 13 ranks up from last weeks 18th position. See below her incredible performance on tonights show and of course Enrico’s Top 20!!!

It is not very often that I support someone from the X-Factor, but I truly believe she has an amazing versatile voice and style and therefore will become a big superstar. Go Sam! I’ll support her!

Leona Lewis – another X-Factor winner – lost a bit of Christmas appeal though and slides down to number two with ‘One More Sleep’ where as Nashville singing sensation Aubrey Peeples manages to climb back to Number One with ‘Gonna Get Even’!

The surprise entry of the week however goes to Afrojack & Spree Wilson with a single called ‘The Spark’ which becomes the highest new entry at Rank number 7! It is one of those songs which has probably been around for a while but only this week found its way mysteriously into Enrico’s Top 20! Very uplifting!!!
