Enough

‘Hello Hi’ by Swedish Pop Trio Dolly Style is holding on to the top spot for an incredible fourth week in a row, which means it still was not enough for Demi Lovato & Cher Lloyd to claim the throne in this weeks charts!

You will also see, that slowly but steadily ‘Popular’ by the Glee Cast is climbing up the latter and settles at the 4th position just behind this weeks highest entry (and rightfully predicted last week) ‘Heartbeat Song’ by US Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. But who am I kidding – these are my charts, so I kind of do decide who is entering and who isn’t!

So it also doesn’t come at a surprise that ZZ Ward with ‘Put The Gun Down’ is debuting at number 7 this week, just having recently seen ‘We’re The Miller’s’!

Last surprise entry of the week is to be found at number 16, a song which was featured on the BBC’s ‘Eurovision’s Greatest’ Hits’. ‘The Lord Of The Dance’ by Irish Dances was just an interval act at the ESC 21 (!) years ago but certainly took the world by storm and the performance on the show certainly had an impact on me! On that dancing note I wish you all a Happy Easter!

Dolly

Sweden always has been good with their song choice for Eurovision, and I only got into it this week, as Melodifestivalen was down to select the entrant for Vienna 2015 and as we all know ABBA – back then – was one of those groups becoming one of the biggest acts in the pop/music industry … However it was not the winner gaining my attention! Instead it was Dolly Style and their incredibly well performed ‘Hello Hi’ which stormed to Number One this week. It is a very endearing catchy pop song, which I think will do well this year at ehCharts.com!

This brings me to the second highest entry this week – and no surprise – another participant to become Sweden’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest this year Eric Saade. ‘Sting’ makes its debut at Number 6 and after listening to it for quite some time I do think the beginning sounds way to close to ‘Call Me Maybe’, a major hit by Carly Rae Jepson a few years ago, don’t you agree?!

It has been a while since Pink was seen in my charts, but for some reason ‘The Truth About Love’ has hit a nerve this week and a respectable seventh position is the ultimate result.

C.J.Lewis with ‘Sweets For My Sweet’ is probably another surprise entry this week which out of the blue caught my attention and given it is from 1994 rank number 16 is a pretty good place to be!

Jazz

ehCharts did see an influx in Jazz music this week it seems, though Jess Glynne manages to successfully defend her Number 1 position for a second week in a row with ‘Hold My Hand’.

Dutch Pop & Jazz Queen Caro Emerald, more notably known for her smash hit ‘Stuck’ debuts at a respectable Number 2 with ‘No Charge’ and in her wake she lets another Jazz-like song sweep in at rank 6 which happens to represent the United Kingdom in this years Eurovision Song Contest! I guess ‘Still In Love With You’ will widely divide peoples opinions though I think it has pretty good chances in the grand Finale taking place in Vienna on the 23rd of May!

Not sure why, but for some reason ‘I Can’t Go For That/You Make My Dreams’ performed by the Glee Cast caught my attention again this week and sneaks in at Number 5! It is extremely catchy though and the video funny to watch plus it features Idina Menzel, famously known for ‘Let It Go’.

Last but not least I do have to mention one of the most famous Japanese Anime’s. NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, an incredibly well done series 26 episodes long from the 90’s. Their Opening Theme (actually called ‘Zankoku Na Tenshi No These’) sung by Yoko Takahashi is this weeks greatest gainer climbing up 5 positions into the Top 10 in it’s tenth week success!

I know I was bragging on about my six times a week working out last week, but I actually manage to do it seven times this week which I’m very proud about and even more happy to actually already see some results! More to follow!!

Including

Of course I need to open this week with the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) including Australia into this years Eurovision Song Contest! A very big move which I thought would stir up a bit more uproar however even the news channels of the world have been playing it down slightly. Nonetheless I am excited about it and hope SBS will select a great entry! If it would have been in 2007 I am sure they would have won with ‘Lights Surrounding You’ by Evermore (You can find this amazing pop ballad further down and do enjoy!).

You will see, that this week has seen quite an ‘international’ development in the Top 20! Foremost a new number one, coming fresh from Italy (and no it is not their entry for Vienna!). Giusy Ferreri’s ‘Ma Il Cielo è Sempre Più Blu’ has literally stormed to Number 1 and easily made Olly Murs & Demi Levatos success from last week with ‘Up’ very short lived indeed as they have to be satisfied with the second place. I might be crazy but I do think Giusy’s song does have a few similarities with Kate Nash’s ‘Do-Wah-Doo’!

I also would like to point to some new discoveries coming from Denmark in form of Cisilia’s ‘Vi To Datid Nu’ and ‘Às Vezes’ by D.A.M.A from Portugal debuting at number 4 and 5 respectively. Other than that it is quite interesting to see Helene Fischer still climbing and actually reaching the Top 10 again! And last but not least Glee is on a cover mission again and ‘All About That Bass’ – a massive hit by Meghan Trainor – sneaks in at Number 19. Now I wonder what next week has to offer!

Before I forget, I would like to thank the new viewers from Yemen, Peru, Croatia, Thailand and India for visiting!

Progress

Welcome back and can you believe, that the first month of 2015 has already passed?! I actually can, looking at the progress I have made so far this year and especially looking at ehCharts being now in it’s fifth week!

Quite a few changes (yet again) especially with the new Number 1 by country newcomer Sam Hunt and his amazing ‘House Party’ song! I do hope he will release a few more songs soon matching the catchy style of this tune.

People who know me personally, and people who have been following ehCharts – to whom I am very grateful to – know that I always had a passion for the Glee Cast and the way they covered certain songs. It is therefore no surprise (to me at least) that ‘Hand In My Pocket / I Feel The Earth Move’ has made an overwhelming debut at Number 3 just behind last weeks number one ‘Feelin’ It’ by another country newcomer Scotty McCreery.

This is closely followed by ‘What Are You Waiting For’,  a summer pop anthem in fourth position by the infamous UK girl group The Saturdays who have first emerged onto the scene a couple of years ago with their cover version of ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’.

One more song I would like to introduce this week (scroll down for the video) is the one which is going to represent France at this years Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Austria’s capital Vienna. Not only has Lisa Angell managed to sneak in at a respectable 6th position, she also has kicked her competition from the Netherlands Trijntje Oosterhuis down to the minor ranks. ‘N’Oubliez Pas’ will do well I think!

I wish one of these songs would feature at tonights SuperBowl which is happening in Phoenix/Arizona right now! Maybe one day! Go SeaHawks (yes I am supporting Seattle)!!!

It happened! After being dominant for the past nine weeks on top of Enrico’s Hitlist One Republic slips down to rank number 4 with their summer song of the year so far ‘Feel Again’. It’s been replaced by Misha B who has been on the famous UK talent show called ‘The X-Factor’. She certainly has it and she delivered with this fabulous song, which I came across this week. ‘Do You Think Of Me’ is now the 13th number 1 of 2013 and the 291th since records began in 2001!

In second position ‘Popular Song’ remains its’ second place and almost made it onto the top spot. Only almost though! A surprise debut on rank 3 goes to Mary J. Blige and her song to the movie ‘The Help’ which I think is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time! The novel – which this move is based on – is even better! Very emotional, very gripping, very surprising first entry for the American singer!

And even though last week I thought ‘Best Song Ever’ by One Direction wouldn’t make it into my charts. Well the song grew on me and enters on rank 13 which seems to be the number of the week!

And another two new songs fail to de-throne ‘Feel Again’ by One Republic who’s been the dominant force in Enrico’s Hitlist for an 9 consecutive weeks! This mens it’s already progressed to a tied 8th position with Kelly Rowland & David Guetta and their smash hit from 2009 ‘When Love Takes Over’ for occupying the number 1 spot!

Colour of the week looks more red (for downfall) rather then blue (for improving). And the ownly two blues this week are fantastic new entries. Highest new entry is Mika & Arianas Grande’s ‘Popular Song’ which was still not popular enough to become the next Number 1 Hit! A very catchy song even with a bit of summer feel to it!

Who doesn’t remember X-Factor and the incredibly talented – I know that’s debatable – Lucy Spraggan? To be honest I almost forgot about her until I came across this song this week. For most of the past seven days it looked like a solid second position but in a last minute entry surprise by the above mentioned ‘Popular Song’ she ‘only’ manages to sneak to Rank 3 with her debut single ‘Lighthouse’ yet another ‘light’ summer feel song!
