First

Sorry for being a day later than usual, but I literally just got back from my first trip abroad of 2017! I had good intentions yesterday when I was preparing to post ‘live’ from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, but I decided not to in the end (maybe I had too much wine!).

Anyway week Number 3 has passed and so has another week of Enrico’s Hitlist or better now known as ehcharts and we have a new number one! Saraha from Sweden who was denied to represent the country at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest pushed her way to the top spot with ‘Kizunguzungu’ leaving the highest new entry ‘Said No One Ever’ by Jana Kramer in her wake. Not sure how many of you remember my pre-robbery time but Saraha’s song does remind me a tiny bit of Norway’s entry from 2011 called ‘Haba Haba’.

Thanks to my recent long-haul flights to the US I was able to pick up a few new songs who featured in movies I was able to watch, such as ‘The Secret Life Of Pets’! Although I wasn’t travelling to New York (I went to St Louis/Missouri) the song somehow stuck with me mainly because of its catchiness.

Progress

Welcome back and can you believe, that the first month of 2015 has already passed?! I actually can, looking at the progress I have made so far this year and especially looking at ehCharts being now in it’s fifth week!

Quite a few changes (yet again) especially with the new Number 1 by country newcomer Sam Hunt and his amazing ‘House Party’ song! I do hope he will release a few more songs soon matching the catchy style of this tune.

People who know me personally, and people who have been following ehCharts – to whom I am very grateful to – know that I always had a passion for the Glee Cast and the way they covered certain songs. It is therefore no surprise (to me at least) that ‘Hand In My Pocket / I Feel The Earth Move’ has made an overwhelming debut at Number 3 just behind last weeks number one ‘Feelin’ It’ by another country newcomer Scotty McCreery.

This is closely followed by ‘What Are You Waiting For’,  a summer pop anthem in fourth position by the infamous UK girl group The Saturdays who have first emerged onto the scene a couple of years ago with their cover version of ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’.

One more song I would like to introduce this week (scroll down for the video) is the one which is going to represent France at this years Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Austria’s capital Vienna. Not only has Lisa Angell managed to sneak in at a respectable 6th position, she also has kicked her competition from the Netherlands Trijntje Oosterhuis down to the minor ranks. ‘N’Oubliez Pas’ will do well I think!

I wish one of these songs would feature at tonights SuperBowl which is happening in Phoenix/Arizona right now! Maybe one day! Go SeaHawks (yes I am supporting Seattle)!!!

Only Two

It has been quite an emotional week for me (again) and I keep learning about people’s true characters. Sadly, lately most of those have become more bad than good, but I’m not giving up. And maybe Connie Britton with her Nashville tune last year called ‘The Best Songs Come From Broken Hearts’ is true!

This brings me nicely to this weeks number one as country star Scotty McCreery manages to reclaim the top spot with the feel good song ‘Feelin’ It! If it performs this well over the next couple of weeks it will become a hot contender for song of the year!

Country music seemed to have regained strength in general as Sam Hunt’s ‘House Party’ is proving at number 2! And this week’s highest entry goes to a country tune as well as you will see with ‘Your Mama Should’ve Named You Whiskey’ debuting at a respectable eighth place though it’s only one of two new entries this week.

You probably also notice a surprise entry by the Sister Act Cast with ‘Hail Holy Queen’. Well given the ups and downs I went through this week and having just recently watched the movie this song still gives me joy and it probably always going to remain a classic! And who doesn’t love the old lady rocking that piano!

Happy Australia Day to my Aussie friends and to show my appreciation the fascination land of Oz below are two of my favourite TV jingles.

Even I did not see that one coming! For most of the week it looked like the Glee Cast can celebrate their 13th Number 1 in Enrico’s Hitlist with the how I find amazing ‘Mamma Mia’ cover! But in a last minute introduction – thanks to one of my friends from New York – Icona Pop & Charli XCX stormed to fame by becoming my 285th smash hit with their single ‘I Love It’! And obviously I do love it a lot, as I’ve been singing along to this almost trance kind of tune all day long and it kind of kept me going during a very tough swim session tonight too. What a nice Easter surprise! Another Easter surprise this week, were views from three new countries. And at this stage I’d like to take the opportunity to welcome Brazil, the Ukraine and Fiji! I hope everyone is enjoying Enrico’s latest Number 1!!

This years current Number 1 ‘Telescope’ by Nashville star Hayden Panettiere is slowly losing steam and after nine weeks has left the Top 10 by falling 7 ranks down to a disappointing 16th position. Jess Penner however makes a re-appearance with a new entry trying to bring me into ‘Paradise’. Not to whinge again, but this bloody cold weather is clearly driving me nuts! Knocking on the doorstep towards the Top 10 is now ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ performed by Pink & Nate Ruess and climbing six positions up from last weeks 17th spot.

And of course, I do need to mention the queen of country Dolly Parton again. Thats not just because she managed to hold onto her 10th position with last weeks new entry ‘John Daniel’ (I am still having difficulties not to say Jack Daniels!!). She also makes a remarkable re-entry with her ‘Straight Talk’ single from the movie she starred in with the very same title. It was a major hit in the 2007 charts and she was last seen back in 2011. Being one of my favourite movies of all time I kind of forced my flatmate to watch it with me this Easter. Unfortunately he didn’t like it very much. Nevertheless the music made even him getting into a dancing mood … And on that note enjoy the video and Happy Easter!!!
